Margareta Balbinus is a Dwarven Wizard, who specializes in Runic Magic, in Applewood. She can surround herself, others, weapons, and even entire buildings with floating runes that defend their charge. She spends much of her time in quiet study, and purposeful work. Margareta can be found working odd jobs around Applewood. While she is primarily employed by the Applewood Guard, she also takes private contracts. She works in ancient methods of imbuing metals with magic using the long forgotten system of Runes.
She does not venture often outside of the city walls, but will do so, especially at the side of Garrick Newgate working to protect the citizens of Applewood. She is one of the handful of Wizards on retainer for the town guard, but does not feel like a part of the team. She works and feels like a contractor. She left her family in Koriolan, the frozen continent in the North. Their eternal war left her exhausted and seeking peace. She came south to Windbreak, and found work in Applewood living a quiet life. ___________________________________________________________________________ Roleplaying Hints:
Quests “I could use a shipment of powdered iron. Would you be able to bring me a barrel of it back with you from Windbreak?” “I heard that you intend to travel to Caer Tristal. Would you mind escorting me there? I have a contract with their Regent to discuss.” Rumors “Margareta is a Dwarf through and through. Get her drunk, get her to promise. Then she’ll help you.” ~Tindle Swill “I’d steer clear of bothering her if you can help it. Now… ya find a book all written in Dwarf Runes, then you aren’t wasting her time.” ~Stannis Relationships to other NPCs Margareta enjoys the professional comforts of contracts. She works well with members of the Guard and Garrick, particularly because of the similarities to the strict Dwarf Culture she was raised in. She works well with Boro Hammerfell, ensuring that the dead are managed, cared for, and unmolested.
