Luther is a simple man with simple desires. His best friend is Taegin (Tay-Ghin) who follows Luther everywhere. The towns that don't allow him in, don't receive the company of Luther either. Both man and dog are typically unwashed, but will clean up for town. The wanderer always has a smile on, and loves to talk.
The pair are willing to escort people through the arid mountains that they call home. They charge a small fee, but will escort you safely through to your destination. He knows all the caves, tunnels, valleys, and peaks by heart, and has very well drawn maps of his favorite locations. He doesn't typically sell these maps, because they are his best advantage.
Travelers often get lost in his hills. The sandstone is hot and unwelcoming, yet time and time again, runaways, fugitives, law breakers, wanderers, and adventurers wander into his homeland. For those that seem friendly, he treats them well. If they are passing through, he will often give advice, and show them to the nearest source of fresh water.
For those that come on a Wanted poster, he hunts like a nightmare. Setting traps and ambushes is easy when you know the place so well. Taegin can pick up a trail easily, and will often do this without being told. Once they have the scent, very little can stop the pair. Luther is a master tracker, and Taegin is unstoppable. When they find the quarry, they take them down fast. Luther is no stranger to bloodshed, despite his boyish charm. He and Taegin fight in unison, tooth, claw, and machete flying mercilessly until the quarry is taken down.
Luther and Taegin are a great way to help a party who has gotten lost in the foothills, hills and mountains that the pair calls home. They can also be used to find someone, somewhere, or something.
Luther has an amazing memory for terrain. If the adventurers are looking for something and can give them a scent or a landmark, he can typically fulfill the contract with relative ease.
If the party is looking for a dungeon, Luther is happy to assist, but he is a savvy guide as well. He will often insist on joining the party inside, and wants a cut of the profits. He will gladly taunt the with information about the local wilds (That is useless to their cause) in an effort to convince them to let him join.
Luther is happy and charming. He flirts indiscriminately with people of any background, ethnicity, race, or gender. He will likely pick a member of the party to be his "Jerboa" (A small rodent with large back feet, and big ears) his term of endearment. This might be the person he finds most attractive, most intimidating, or most distrusting, whichever he thinks will be the most fun.
If a bounty is on the line, or even mentioned, all charm goes away and he becomes very serious. Once the details are discussed he returns to his boisterous self until the hunt gets close. Nothing is more important than food for Luther. The best way to get food is to get money. Bounty Hunting provides most of his money. Another way to get food is to hunt, which he does regularly and is one of the reasons he gets people off of his hunting grounds quickly.
Taegin mimics Luther's demeanor. When Luther is teasing or flirty, Taegin might lick hands, or play games. When Taegin is trying to get a read on someone, he will sniff the party's packs for signs of danger... or food.
